The intervention begins by recognising the value of the existing industrial architecture. The vast structure of La Basconia, its scale and the intensity of its atmosphere are understood not as constraints, but as the starting point for the project.
The proposal works with the existing building, identifying what should be preserved and what can be transformed to accommodate new uses. Rather than an approach based on replacement, the proposal seeks an architecture that builds upon the building’s memory, materiality and spatial qualities.
The project seeks to establish a balance between permanence and change: intervening with precision, recovering what is valuable, and allowing the former industrial structure to begin a new chapter.
