OF SQUARES AND REFUGES

The proposal seeks to reclaim Santa Ana Square as a neighbourhood gathering place and urban refuge in the heart of Pamplona’s Old Town.

The intervention is structured around highlighting the site’s historical memory and archaeological remains, preserving existing trees, and creating flexible spaces for social interaction, play, relaxation, and community gardens.

A linear lighting element connects the entrances and structures the different areas, while lightweight pergolas, permeable paving, and sustainable drainage systems contribute to environmental comfort.

The proposal aims to create an inclusive, naturalised, and adaptable square that reinforces the neighbourhood’s identity and its character as a shared public space.
